Spring//Summer 2024

California Dreaming

Designer Audrey Wyckmans and her team drew inspiration for the Gigue Spring-Summer 2024 collection from the sun-drenched landscapes of California. So the location for their new campaign shoot was a no-brainer. We head for glamorous Palm Springs and take in a visit to the Joshua Tree National Park. Belgian top model Ine Neefs is again the face of Gigue this season. You will recognise her from the covers of Vogue, Numéro and Elle, as well as the recent autumn campaign.

The Parker Hotel

The shoot starts at the five-star Parker hotel, a favourite among Hollywood actors. It marries two of Palm Springs’ signature styles: mid-century design from the 1950s and contemporary eclecticism.

The central pool exudes that easy-going chic of 1950s Palm Springs. Its white sun loungers and striped parasols allude to the iconic images from photographer Slim Aarons, whose photos of Palm Springs adorn the shoot’s mood board.

The hotel is the key location for day 1 of the shoot. Model Ine relaxes on the poolside sun loungers and poses in front of the hotel's brise-soleil façade. This façade’s geometric pattern makes it a striking city landmark.

Joshua Tree National Park

On day 2, we set off early for the Joshua Tree National Park, located approximately an hour east of Palm Springs. Accompanied by a friendly park ranger, we explore the areas where we are permitted to shoot, amidst the golden brown rocks and Joshua trees. The temperature hits 40° and the sky turns a deep blue, providing a sizzling backdrop for Gigue Spring-Summer 2024.

Deepwell Estates

Palm Springs is renowned for its quintessential mid-century villas lined with palm trees. We commence a shoot on the streets of Deepwell Estates, one of five neighbourhoods dotted with these trademark villas. In Palm Springs, homes cannot be built higher than one storey so as not to deny anyone the mountain views. The properties feature modernistic contours, a neutral colour palette and colourful doors.

Tippi Hedren and Audrey Hepburn are rumoured to have resided in Deepwell Estates. Palm Springs was already known in the early 20th century as the preferred holiday resort for Hollywood stars. In those days, actors were contractually required to stay within driving distance of Los Angeles. They chose the paradisiacal Palm Springs, which still embodies that glamour to this day.
